Taking a Leadership Role in a Building's Energy & Environmental Design
Room Number: 9
Presenter(s): James L. Newman, CEM, LEED AP, Managing Partner, Newman Consulting Group, LLC
Constantly increasing energy costs and environmental factors have more building managers investing in sustainable buildings. A 2007 survey of the United States commercial real estate sector revealed nearly two-thirds of respondents allocated funds to these initiatives, while the majority said sustainability investment would increase in the near future. This session will discuss the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) framework that was developed to help design and construct environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient buildings that are healthier workplaces and more economically profitable, and help facility managers address this essential responsibility.
